Ali Shafiu first picked up his bass once he joined Detune. He self-taught himself within a week, just to manage Detune’s repertoire. This would not have been an easy feat.

Ali Shafiu first played snare and bugle in Majeedhiya School’s Brass Band during his school years. At the end 2000, he joined Eclipse in which he played for about two and a half years.

He is described by his band members as, serious yet easy going, with a highly experimental attitude towards everything.

Ali’s future ambitions are to improve on his vocals and to become a professional bassist. His strong determination is what makes him confident that he will achieve his goal of becoming a successful musician.
